Take the first step towards your future by choosing your program and selecting the Truro campus on your application. After acceptance, complete the applicant information form, and a coordinator will contact you to guide you through the next steps.听

Residence guarantee

Are you a new, direct-from-high-school, domestic, or international student with a complete application on file by May 1st? You鈥檙e guaranteed residence!

Dal also gives priority to Indigenous students, especially Mi鈥檏maq, African/Black students, especially Historical African, and Nova Scotian Students with (dis)abilities or ongoing medical conditions that significantly impact housing needs.

FAQs

Students coming into any Truro Start program will be charged Truro campus student fees.听

You will have access to all of the supports and resources on the Truro campus, while you are studying in Truro.听 Your fees will be adjusted when you transition to the Halifax campus for years two and beyond.

听

Talk to your academic听advisor, Ashley Coffin (ashley.coffin@dal.ca), who will walk you through your options.听 If you want to stay on the Truro campus longer, there may be options for you to prolong your courses in Truro.听

Programs that are only available for the first year on the Truro campus are Computer Science, Applied Computer Science and Recreation Management.听

You will be connected to your new academic advisor going into your second semester of your first year.听听

Through the Truro Start program you will visit the Halifax campus once a semester to get a feel for campus life.听 Travel will typically take place in early November on a Saturday and late February during the study break.

If you want to academic pathway to lead you to apply for Dental Hygiene, Social Work or Pharmacy you can complete up to the first two years of courses on the Truro campus.听听

Yes! Truro Start Science and Arts provides a flexible option for students who want to start university but are not sure what they want to major in initially.听听

A bonus of taking Truro Start is not only can you take courses in general arts and sciences, but you can also take a variety of courses offer in the Faculty of Agriculture.听 Example courses are Plant Science, Environmental Science, Aquaculture, Equine Science, Animal Behaviour, and many more.听

Not at all.听 If you live close to the Truro area and would like to stay at home for your first year, you are still welcome to live at home.听听

There are opportunities to get involved in campus life for both on and off campus students.

Indigenous Student Access Pathway Program

Our Truro campus is also home to the Indigenous Student Access Pathway Program (ISAP), offering First Nations, M茅tis and Inuit students an opportunity to complete university courses in our culturally supportive and friendly campus community. The program is open to听direct-from-high-school students, mature students and those with previous post-secondary听experience who have some but not all of the prerequisites for standard admission.
