You鈥檒l build a strong foundation with core courses like听Development Microeconomics (ECON 5000)听补苍诲听Applied Development Economics (ECON 5254). You鈥檒l also choose between听Economic Growth (ECON 5001)听辞谤听Open Economy Macroeconomics (ECON 5253), along with graduate-level electives in economics.

With approval, you may take select electives outside the discipline to tailor your learning. If you haven鈥檛 completed an introductory econometrics course (such as ECON 3338 or equivalent), you鈥檒l include it as part of your studies.

All graduate programs at 正品蓝导航 are collaboratively delivered by a home Faculty and the听Faculty of Graduate Studies.

Admission requirements

You'll need to meet the听Faculty of Graduate Studies minimum requirements听as well as any program-specific admission requirements before you can apply.

Apply by听May 1听(with supporting documents due by听June 1) to start in听September.

If you鈥檙e seeking听scholarships or departmental funding, apply by听December 31听(supporting documents due by听January 31).

An alternate timeline may be available:听March 1听application deadline with documents due by听April 1听for a September start.


Program-specific requirements

This program requires you to meet the following criteria:

You鈥檒l need a听four-year bachelor鈥檚 degree (BA, BSc, or BComm)听with at least a听B+ (upper second-class) averagebased on 正品蓝导航 standards.

A strong background in听economics beyond the introductory level听(including intermediate theory), along with听statistics and university-level mathematics, is required. If you鈥檙e missing some of this preparation, you may be asked to complete additional coursework or a qualifying year before starting the program.

Applicants that are academically admissible to the MA, MDE or PhD program, but do not meet the听minimum English language proficiency requirement, may be offered conditional admission with the provision that they complete a graduate level ESL test with the required minimum acceptable score. Applicants may also choose to complete the听English for Academic Purposes (EAP) program听(Level - 2) offered by Open Learning and Career Development (OLCD) at 正品蓝导航 University.
