If you completed the census in 2015, 2016 or 2017, and changes have not occurred with your self-identification, you do not need to complete it this year.
Completing the census is confidential. Only a small number of employees within the Human Rights & Equity Services office have access to the census data. The census data is stored separately and is not shared with your manager/supervisor. It is not attached to your employee or student record.
To be counted in the census, you need to include your Banner number on the census.
If you have student employees, please encourage them to complete the student census. Both the faculty/staff census and the student census are available at dal.ca/becounted.
Why complete it?
The census information helps the university make informed decisions on policy and planning as it relates to diversity and inclusiveness, which will foster a respectful and inclusive culture for everyone.
If you have questions about the census, please contact the Office of Human Rights & Equity Services at 494-6672 or email becounted@dal.ca.
