Canadian Agriculture Literacy Week is coming up from March 1-7, 2015. The week is a time when school children are encouraged to celebrate agriculture in our province by reading books about farming.
Classrooms across the province and county will be celebrating the week with a variety of activities. Last year, 85 volunteers from Nova Scotia’s agricultural community visited 125 elementary school classrooms to read to students, and donate books and other educational resources about farming. This year, we are offering a Canadian farm book for grade 4 classrooms.
In Nova Scotia, this annual event is supported by the Nova Scotia Agricultural Awareness Committee, the Department of Agriculture, and Farm Credit Canada.Â
